Activism Part XI By: Puck Arks

More corruption, a wealthier and more isolated upper class, more homelessness, increased militarization, a growth in censorship, less privacy, further loss of constitutional protections, a decline in the standard of living, fewer corporations owning more media, greatly increased traffic jams, more waits for services and entertainment, more illness from toxic chemicals, more influence by drug lords, more climatic instability, fewer beaches, more violence, more segregation, more propaganda, less responsive government, less truth, less space, less democracy, less happiness, less love.

But what if, on the other hand, we recognize that the future of our society and our planet will in large part simply represent the sum total of human choices made between now and then?

Then we can stop being passive spectators and become activists even more, we start to rewrite the play.

We can become the hope we are looking for.

1. The mass media will always under-report the amount of protests and protestors, it’s up to you to make your presence felt and report the facts.

2. Negotiate and create dialogue with others whom you disagree with.

3. The way to reverse the control of MSM is to reverse the flow of information, find clever ways to get people’s attention.

4. Constantly remind people that democracy is a meaningless concept if all communication vehicles are owned by a dozen families.

5. When you hear this ‘well our lives are better now’, mention stress, anxiety, the 90 million Americans on psychoactive drugs.

6. Avoid intoxication of any kind, the mind of an activist must always be sober and ready to work for the struggle.

7. If you have started an activist group and someone wants to join, be very cautious, it’s better if you approach people to join.

8. Always remember that democracy without political activism is like happiness without meaning.

9. Tell your friends and family, that we must always remain vigilant, because unchecked power is abusive power.

10. When people say protests are dangerous, tell them that it is dangerous to remain passive while the corporate machines wipes out souls.

11. Do not be afraid, never be afraid. Fear is what the mass media spreads to keep us all on the couch watching stupid visions of life.

12. Never doubt your activism, if you begin to doubt, then you should isolate yourself for a while and reexamine your purpose in life.

13. An activist is not a wannabe hero, an activist is the anonymous force which works towards the destruction of the power paradigm.

14. There will be moments when you feel your mind and soul merging with historical movements, do not fear this vertigo like feeling.

15. An activist is a way life, one in which sacrifices must be made.

16. Live that which you speak.

17. Write anonymously, it is an empowering act, forget the capitalist notions of copyrights and intellectual property.

18. Fight against the notion of intellectual property, the idea that our thoughts and minds can be owned and distributed.

19. Do not believe any political author who sells eCopies online, if the message is not more important than profits then it’s poison.

20. Email authors and ask them why they do not make their books free online?
