Activism Part X

Alice Walker writes...

“When you stand with, and for, the marginalized and abused, bring a kind heart, an open mind and a good conscience. This can only be achieved by acknowledging what has truly happened. The suffering must be seen and the wounded must be embraced.”

1. Mass media makes people attached to their delusions of possible wealth and grandeur, whenever you get the opportunity engage with these individuals and teach the importance of humanity over greed.

2. Activism is a way of life, challenge yourself and your way of life.

3. When watching television be mindful full of the messages and symbols that encourage your mind to be passive and always look for the distraction.

4. Avoid sudden and spontaneous interactions with the mass media, always have a distinct purpose for watching a show or reading an article.

5. Avoid reading and watching the news habitually, the news is actually programmed to deflate human energy and our social consciousness.

6. Avoid the feeling that watching the news is enough, news consumption is not a political act, you have to do something.

7. The corporation is the front business of the ruling elites, do not fall for the trap that the corporation is the inherent evil.

8. If you must watch the news choose independent media or unbiased sources. However if you are drawn to mainstream media do not dedicate yourself to one station. While they are all biased it's wise to get all sides even if they do have he same agenda.

9. In a consumer culture, “To buy” is an act of compliance and “Not to buy” is an act of defiance and social resistance.

10. You have to begin viewing yourself as an active and vital part of the historical movement of world events. Not the historic events the media wants you to be involved in but what mainstream wants you to forget about.

Privacy, murderer journalist, constant wars they won't cover, unjust punishment against leakers, haxxors and whistle blowers.

11. Do not be passive but pick your battles wisely, be mindful and be ready for calculated confrontations.

12. Wherever you go, always look for ways in which you can bring your activism into all aspects of people’s lives.

13. If you go to the mall hand out a few flyers against consumption.

14. If you’re volunteering in a soup kitchen, take the opportunity to spread the message.

15. Remember the revolution is already here the truth, justice, compassion and kindness will play a vital role.

16. Try to recruit both women and men, do not have any sexist prejudice, everyone can help the cause.

17. An activist is selfless, invisible, always present, always ready for action.

18. When you are confronted by those who say that your cause is hopeless, tell them that the cause is a far superior choice to vegetating in front of the TV.

19. Human beings are too possible in the acceptance of the status quo it has made them obsessed with personal comforts, find ways to gently negate these comforts.

20. Keep a diary, in which you note your activist activities, try and brainstorm ways in which you can be more effective.
