Rituals

Rituals were important in the Middle Ages, to keep the populace in line with the strict and often oppressive religious and political beliefs and agendas. But you know, ritual wasn't wasn't the only way to keep someone from doing his or her own thing. Mental Illness has always been around, as long as humanity has, and for those who may have been schizophrenic or suffering from some form of PTSD or personality disorder, it was usually assumed that they were under the possession of demons or evil entities/deities.

An early practice was to cut a hole into the skull of the person believed to be possessed. This process was called "trephining" and it was believed to "free" the demon and allow it's escape. Sometimes an instrument would be inserted into the brain to help the demon out, which could easily be compared in likeness to the eventual later on "lobotomy".

If the person deemed possessed suffered from brain permanent damage, oh well. At least their erratic behavior was now under complete control.

I bring this up because I want you to realize that powers, authorities, and principalities have never shown any restraint in gaining control of the populace. Nor have they shown any with-holding of heinous, abusive and completely invasive methods of TORTURE to achieve these ends. There are so many other examples in history that I could post about.

Maybe as time goes by, I will cover them too.

I think it's about time that we, the people, start giving a shit. Start using the past and our annals of history as the means and drive to fuel our anger. We see other countries doing this. We are seeing the riots. The marches. The revolution. Get angry. Use that anger. And STAND UP. I will stand beside you.
