Chelsea Manning To Be Released?
No, you are not reading the headline in error nor is this a hoax. Bradley Manning, now Chelsea Manning is set to be released in May 2017. President Obama has been on a wild pardoning & commuting spree in his final days in the White House before Donald J Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States on January 20th, 2017.
The outcry for this has been ringing alarms every since Manning pleaded guilty to charges of leaking national secret classified information to Wiki Leaks founder Julian Assange. After several officials went through and determined a lot of the documents should not have been marked as they were in the first place.
Manning, a United States Army soldier, was convicted by court martial on July 2013 under the Espionage Act of 1917. He was sentenced in August of 2013 to 35 years, illegible for Parole in 8 years of the sentence and then Dishonorably Discharged from the Army.
Throughout his time in prison he went through several different issues from suicide attempts to coming to grips about how he identified as a woman and not a man. Throughout the media and top military intelligence officials, Manning's choice to go from Bradley to Chelsea was seen as a move to avoid the big boy house or a stunt.
Bradley Manning in contrary states:
"As I transition into this next phase of my life, I want everyone to know the real me. I am Chelsea Manning, I am a female," Manning said in the statement read by anchorwoman Savannah Guthrie on NBC News' "Today" show.
"Given the way that I feel and have felt since childhood, I want to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible," Manning said in the statement. "I also request that starting today you refer to me by my new name and use the feminine pronoun."Chelsea Manning also battled suicide a few times while being locked behind the walls for those 700k files, classified and not, documents, the largest breech of State secrets in US history. Once in July, then again in October which the New York Toilet Paper wrote two pieces on the subject. Most of this was due to the amount of depression she went through with the trial and being in solitary confinement.
Fast forwarding to today, Obama has basically made every fighter for freedom and transparency ecstatic, while completely pissing off those on every side of the isle.

“Today’s fantastic news goes a long way to making amends for the brutal treatment Chelsea was illegally subjected to while awaiting trial at the Quantico Marine Brig. It’s tragic that Chelsea had to spend 7-years imprisoned for releasing documents that should never have been classified in the first place, and were clearly in the public interest,” stated Chelsea Manning Support Network co-founder Jeff Paterson.
“All of us who worked on Chelsea’s behalf are overjoyed.”
But wait...there is more
Although yes, this is a HUGE victory for whistle-blowers everywhere and does set a new bar for convicting crimes of this nature. The Intel community is furious, but just like all these foreign countries "investing" in America through the Trump Administration, at what cost does this move come?
Here are a few statements from politicians since this announcement on the Cartoon News Network (CNN) with Jake Tapper:
