Some cheap nylon flag from Walmart is neither venerated nor anointed with blood. Individual freedoms for destruction of personal property are well documented. If I am charged with guarding the flag, while in a military capacity, I would run the pike through you if you attempted to take it. As such, individual owners have a right to defend personal property depending on their state laws including, but not limited to bodily injury up to deadly force.
